Updated: Nov 8, 2022
Palazzo Grillo is an important place of the history of Genoa and the Old Town.
It was built in 1545 by the will of Domenico Grillo and designed with the typical features of prestigious building. It preserves so well its original features that made it a symbol of the Genoese aristocracy of the sixteenth century.

Over the last few decades, Palazzo Grillo has long been abandoned or used improperly, a shame for the beauty of the place. A sad destiny for this beautiful building, with frescoes and architectural works, such as the monumental staircase at the entrance, of great historical and artistic value. From 2011 started the restructuring by the public property to give back the palace to the city and to its former glory. The project ended with the achievement of the hotel, able to make the building live again into a daily routine.
“Palazzo Grillo was embellished with a rich prospect of marbles and frescoes of the famous painter Gio Battista Castello called the Bergamasco on the request of Domenico Grillo".
The Palace is known for its interior picturesque cycles, the subject of a careful restoration, and the architectural decorations of the prospect almost completely disappeared today, that Bergamasco painted, creating a unique effect, of monumental and airy combination.
From 2011 started the restructuring by the public property to give back the palace to the city and to its former glory. The project ended with the achievement of the hotel, able to make the building live again into a daily routine.
Genova
Petrarch called her "the proud", Carducci "the marble". Dante even sent the Genoese to hell in the Divine Comedy. Entering the city, however, the idea that one gets of Genoa is anything but negative. In fact, what other place gives the pleasant feeling of being lost continuously?

n Genoa, the capital of Liguria, this happens thanks to the narrow streets, the ups and downs, the very high buildings, the hidden courtyards. Never knowing what to expect around the corner. Maybe a small church, a balcony full of geraniums or a majestic Doria residence. A seaside city that has always had its true essence in the port. It is there, in fact, in a continuous coming and going of always different people, that that mix of identities and cultures is created that are also found in the city.
